The # 8 advanced knowledge seminar will be in charge of Professor Álvaro Domingues, delivering the lecture entitled “Para uma Epistemologia do Urban ”.

Álvaro Domingues (1959) is a Geographer,
holds a PhD in Human Geography from FLUP and he is Associate Professor at the
Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto, FAUP in integrated master's
and doctoral courses. Member of the Scientific Council 2012-2019. Researcher at
CEAU-FAUP, Center for Architecture and Urbanism Studies at FAUP. Professor at
the Master “Urban Environment Project” (FAUP / FEUP). Professor of the PhD
course Architecture of Contemporary Metropolitan Territories at ISCTE, Lisbon.
Professor of the PhD Course at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of
Lisbon, Coimbra and Minho.
Collaborator at Porto 2001, European
Capital of Culture, 1999-2000. Professor of Summer Courses at the Serralves
Foundation 2005-2008. Invited Professor at the Federal University of Rio de
Janeiro, 2006, and at the University of Granada in 2005.
As a researcher at CEAU-FAUP, he has
developed a regular research activity in the scope of projects with the Calouste
Gulbenkian Foundation, with the Science and Technology Foundation, with CCDR-N
and CCDRN-C, with the Board of Galicia, with the School Superior Technician of
Architecture of Coruña, with Erasmus University of Rotterdam-EURICUR, with Club
Ville Aménagement - Paris; with CCCB, Barcelona, with the Technical
University of Barcelona-Architecture, with the University of Granada, with the
École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, EPFL-ENAC; with the Federal
University of S. Paulo and Rio de Janeiro; with the municipalities of Guimarães
and Porto, with the Order of Architects, with the Youth Foundation, among
others.
He develops regular activity as a
lecturer. He publishes in the daily press as a columnist (Jornal Público), in
the electronic newspaper Correio do Porto, in ArchDailly, in the Journal of the
University of Porto, among others.
