The Architecture’s School mission is to generate, disseminate and apply knowledge in architecture and related fields, based on freedom of thought and the plurality of critical exercises, promoting education and helping to build a model of society based on principles Humanists, who has the knowledge, creativity and innovation for growth, sustainable development, welfare and solidarity.
The performance of their mission is accomplished in an international framework, based on the centrality of research and its close links with education by pursuing the following objectives:
a) human development at the highest level in terms of its ethical, cultural, scientific, artistic, technical and professional, through a diversified supply of education, creating an appropriate learning environment, enhancing the work of their teachers, researchers and non-teaching staff and non-researcher, and education personnel, social, intellectual and professional lives of their students, contributing to lifelong learning and the pursuit of an active and responsible citizenship;
b) to conduct research and participation in scientific events and institutions, promoting the ongoing search for excellence, creativity as a source of proposals and innovative solutions and differentiate, as well as reflections on the major issues of our times;
c) The transfer, exchange and utilization of scientific and technological knowledge generated through the development of application solutions, providing services to the community, conducting in-service training and development support on a basis of mutual appreciation and promoting entrepreneurship;
d) The promotion of activities that facilitate the access and enjoyment of cultural goods by all persons and groups within and outside of school;
e) the cultural, scientific and technical institutions and national and international organizations, through the mobility of students, teachers and non-teaching staff and non-researcher, developing educational programs and research-based partnerships, the contribution to the cooperation internationally, with particular emphasis on European countries and Portuguese-speaking, and the construction of a multicultural environment at the school;
f) Interaction with society through contributions to public understanding of culture, and the establishment of partnerships for sustainable social and economic contexts in regional, national or international law;
g) The contribution to knowledge, advocacy and dissemination of its natural and cultural heritage;
h) The promotion of institutional sustainability and its articulation with the global space.
